About Our Pastor

Mr. and Mrs. Callahan

Thank you for visiting our site! My name is Charles (Chuck) Callahan and I am the Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church. My journey in this world started in Columbus, Ohio. I joined the United States Army after graduation from high school. In 1982, I met Susan Skinner who would become my best friend and wife.

While stationed in Giessen, Germany we were reached through a Gospel tract placed in our housing area and decided to attend Lahn Baptist Church. Having not grown up in a family that went to church this was a new experience for me. It was there, that for the first time in my life, I heard the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ. There I found that God loved me so much He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. We can see God’s love expressed through the following scripture:

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

On May 29th, 1986 Susan and I came to know Jesus as our personal Savior.

I retired from the Army on November 1st, 1999 and began a three year journey to raise support from churches across America. Following our period of deputation, my family and I arrived to mainland Japan in 2002, where we ministered for over thirteen years. In 2014, while visiting Okinawa, the Lord opened my eyes to the need of an Independent Baptist Church between Camp Kinser and Camp Foster. After much prayer, counsel with my pastor, and the support of our home church we felt God’s call to move.

We arrived to Okinawa on July 12th, 2015 followed by our household goods on July 22nd 2015. God blessed our first service, which was held on August 2nd 2015, with seven in attendance and support from local missionaries. Lighthouse Baptist Church has seen many souls saved and lives changed through the Gospel. That very same Gospel which changed Susan and I’s life so many years ago.

My life verse is:

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
